SPRINGVILLE, Ala. - Lois J. Turybury passed away Feb. 2, 2013, after a long and brave battle with cancer. Lois, a former resident of Richburg, N.Y., was residing with her family in Springville.

Lois retired from the Richburg School District (where all the grown kids now remember her as "Cafeteria Lady"). She was very active in the community. She was a lifetime member of the Richburg Fire Department and Auxiliary and was treasurer for the Auxiliary for 25 years. She also was a member of Inavale Grange 1248 and an active member of the Women of the Moose and the American Legion Auxiliary.

Lois is survived by her sisters, Charlotte (Tom) Payne, Erma Kaczmarek and Elaine (Larry) Hostetler; two stepsons, Ernest Lavern and Rodney (Barbara) Turybury; five step-grandchildren; four step-great-grandchildren and several loving nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Ernest Turybury; his parents, Paul and Hazel Crandall; a sister, Pauline (Bill) Rapan; a nephew, Paul Rapan; and a niece, Michelle Versch.

Lois had a profound love of life and a sense of humor to match. She enjoyed telling and reliving stores and laughing with family and friends. She touched many hearts in the North and the South. Once you met Lois, you would never forget her. She didn't care who you were, she would always strike up a conversation of some type. She had the biggest heart and wouldn't intentionally hurt anyone. She was an outstanding lady and sister. Lois will be missed by many.

The family requests donations to the Richburg Firemen's Auxiliary in lieu of flowers. A memorial service will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, May 18, 2013, at the Richburg Firemen and Auxiliary Club House.
