Barbara J. “Babs” Chase
1960-2015
RICHBURG - Barbara J. “Babs” Chase of 105 Richardson Avenue passed away Friday June 5, 2015 in the
Strong Memorial Hospital Rochester following a lengthy illness. Born November 27, 1960 in Wellsville,
she was the daughter of Robert & Barbara Nicholson Thomas. On April 26, 1986 she married James
Chase in Allegany NY. Mr. Chase survives.
Babs was a graduate of the Bolivar Central School class of 1979. She attended Alfred State College.
Babs was employed by the Cuba Cheese Shop and Eckerd Pharmacy in Wellsville. She was a member of
Kenyon Andrus Post 772 American Legion Auxiliary Bolivar.
Surviving in addition to her husband are two children, Joseph Chase of Bolivar and Kelley Chase of
Wellsville; her mother Barbara Thomas Bolivar; one sister Anne (Dave) Nenno of Sullivan Indiana and
one brother John Michael Thomas of Bolivar. Also surviving are three grandchildren, several aunts,
uncles, cousins and a special friend Justin Putnam. She was preceded in death by her father Robert
Thomas in 1999 and a sister Selinda Smith in 2002.
Friends may call at the Schaffner Funeral Home Inc. Bolivar on Sunday 3-6P.M. Funeral services will be
held from the Funeral Home on Monday June 8, 2015 at 11A.M. Rev. Sharon Schausas will officiate.
Burial will be in St. Mary’s Cemetery Bolivar. Memorials may be made to Richburg Fire Department
Ambulance Fund or National Kidney Foundation of Western New York, 300 Delaware Ave. Suite 101,
Buffalo N.Y. 14202.
