John E. Mix
1923-2015
BOLIVAR - John E. Mix 91 of 1338 South Bolivar Rd. passed away Friday January 23, 2015 in the Cuba
Memorial Hospital following a lengthy illness. Born March 16, 1923 in Bolivar he was the son of
John L. and Pearl Nolan Mix.
He married the former Patricia Hancock in 1946. Mrs. Mix preceded him in death on October 18, 1978.
On June 27, 1981 John married Jennie Holmes in Farmersville N.Y. Mrs. Mix survives.
John was a veteran of the U.S.Army serving in W.W.II in the Pacific Theater of operation. He was
employed by the former Clark Brothers Co. Olean as a foreman for over thirty-five years retiring in 1981.
John loved classic country music and played guitar in various local bands.
Surviving in addition to his wife are two children; John G. (Helen) Mix of Junction City Kansas and Gerilee
Greene of Palm Bay Fla. Four stepsons; Herbert “Spike” (Tamie) Holmes of Friendship, Richard Holmes of Ceres,
David Holmes of Olean and Ronald (Karen) Holmes of Little Genesee. Also surviving are seven grandchildren,
six great-grandchildren and three brothers; Robert (Karen) Mix of Medina, Arnold (Judy) Mix of Lyndonville
and Don (Lorraine) Mix of Oklahoma. He was preceded in death by a granddaughter Rose Mix, three brothers
and four sisters.
There will be no prior visitation. A Memorial service will be held at the convenience of the family.
Burial will be in Maple Lawn Cemetery Bolivar.
