Russell H. Thwing
1927-2015
CERES - Russell H. Thwing 87 of 181 Bells Brook Rd. passed away Saturday November 21, 2015 in the
Olean General Hospital following a brief illness. Born December 11, 1927 in Flint, MI he was the son of
Perry and Ilda Buchner Thwing. Russell married Ingeburg Rhode on October 6, 1948 in Germany. On
February 6, 1986 in Willoughby, Ohio he married Carol Trahan, and Mrs. Thwing survives.
He was a former employee of the Eldred Pa. powder plant and Tops Supermarket in Olean. Russell was
a custodian at the Otto-Eldred Pa. High School for twenty years, retiring in 1995. He was a veteran of
the U.S. Army serving in World War II.
Surviving in addition to his wife are three daughters, Annelise Stangle, Karin Nattress and Jane Thwing;
three sons, Alan Thwing, Steven Thwing and Jody Thwing; two stepsons, Christopher (Peggy) Trahan and
Michael Trahan. Also surviving are former daughter-in-law Susan (Harold) Lanphere and numerous
grandchildren and great grandchildren. He is also survived by three brothers, Milton (Theda) Thwing,
Richard (Roxie) Thwing and Cecil (Theda) Thwing; three sisters, Beatrice (Ainley) Sumey, Leona (Karl)
Francis and Cora Lee (Jack) Calaway and several nieces and nephews.
There will be no prior visitation or services. Burial will be at the convenience of the family.
