Virginia “Ginny” A. Sexton
1926-2015
BOLIVAR - Virginia ”Ginny” A. Sexton formally of 74 Boss St. passed away Wednesday
October 21, 2015 in the Wellsville Manor Care Center, following a lengthy illness.
Born October 30, 1926 in Wellsville, she was the daughter of Albert and Pearl Rogers Cline.
On September 4, 1954 she married Richard V. Sexton in Bolivar. Mr. Sexton preceded
her in death on May 23, 1983.
Ginny was a legal secretary for Matson & Mergler Attorneys at Law in Bolivar,
a court stenographer for Allegany County, a legal secretary for Shane & McCarthy
Attorneys at Law in Olean and legal secretary to the Hon. Edward J. Horey, Cattaraugus
County Judge, retiring in 1984. She was also an active member and active deaconess of
St. Stephen’s Episcopal Church in Olean. Ginny was a member of the Frank B. Church
Post 2530 VFW and a past member of the Ladies Elks Lodge 721, both in Wellsville.
Surviving are six children, Ella Mae Calhoun, Wellsville; Mary (Norman Preston) Sexton,
Wellsville; Susan Sexton Lindberg Niantic, CT; Kimberly Ann (Richard) DiMaria, Rochester;
Kevin R. Sexton, Little Genesee; Jon “Shawn” Sexton, Monroe, NC; Also surviving are
five grandchildren, Seth Lindberg, Miranda and Dane DiMaria, Casey and Taylor Sexton.
Friends may call the Schaffner Funeral Home, Inc., Bolivar on Friday, October 23, 2015
from 12PM to 2PM. Funeral services will immediately follow with Rev. Carol Stewart,
Pastor of St. John’s Episcopal Church of Wellsville, officiating. Burial will be in
Maple Lawn Cemetery in Bolivar.
