A Farmer at Heart.

David M. Washburn 94, of 1443 Castle View Drive, Springdale and former Black Creek, NY resident, passed away Saturday July 7, 2018 in the Arkansas Veterans Home in Fayetteville following a brief illness. Born on April 29, 1924, in Eagle, N.Y., he was a son of William and Gertrude Dye Washburn. He married the former Dorothy Gibson, who preceded him in death on October 28, 2002.

He is a veteran of the United States Army serving in World War II. He was employed as a farmer by Ted Utter for 16 years and then was employed by the Cuba NY Central School (later Cuba Rushford Central School) for thirty years, as a custodian and bus driver, retiring in 1994. He was a member of the Cuba VFW Post 2721 and enjoyed round and square dancing with his wife Dorothy and enjoyed his horses.

Surviving are two sons, Raymond Washburn of Olean, NY and Donald (Tonya) Washburn of Springdale; 17 grandchildren; 26 great-grandchildren; one sister, Margaret Clark of Gainesville, FL; two brothers, Edgar Washburn of Hume, NY and William "Butch" Washburn of Bliss, NY; one step-daughter, Cathy Flowers of Rochester, NY; a special friend, Annette Lieberman of Arizona and several nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by his parents; a son, Randy Washburn in 2008; two grandchildren, Jessica Wright in 2016 and Eric Washburn in 2015; six sisters, Winifred Wolfer, Mildred Eyler, Vivian Hamilton, Wilma Benedict, Annie Washburn and Millie Tyler; and one brother, Richard "Buck" Washburn.

Friends may call from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday July 12, 2018 at the Mark F. Rinker Funeral Home & Memorial Service Inc., 9 Bull Street, Cuba, where funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday July 13, 2018.
