Linda J. Consedine
1948-2018
It is with great sadness the family of Linda J. Consedine announces her sudden, but peaceful passing, on
Tuesday, December 4, 2018.
She married Tom Consedine, then an aspiring musician and lead singer and guitarist for The Tigermen, in
1968 in Olean, NY. Shortly thereafter, Tom served as an infantry officer in Vietnam and ultimately the
Army became their family for the next 22 years. Linda used her nursing skills around the globe as she
accompanied her husband on assignments in the U.S. and Europe, including postings in the U.K.,
Germany, the Netherlands, Georgia, and Virginia. Following their final military assignment in Richmond,
VA, both Linda and Tom found new careers and challenges as they planned their golden years together.
Tom sadly passed away following a short battle with melanoma on December 4, 2005. Linda relocated to
Mechanicsburg to be closer to family, never to fully recover from the loss of her beloved soul mate.
Fiercely loyal to family, well read and quick-witted Linda lived a full life, one characterized by adventure,
fulfillment, and love. Linda is lovingly remembered by her children, Michael Consedine (Carrie), Tracey
Consedine (Chester), and Lt. Col. Kevin Consedine (Meagan). Linda is also profoundly missed by her
adored six grandchildren, Maura, Jack, Thomas, Olivia, James and Leila, her sisters, Mary Kevin Cawley
(James), Anne Klenke (Robert), and her brother, Joseph Schaffner (Eileen). Linda is forever remembered
by her numerous nieces, nephews and extended family and dear friends across the globe. She is
predeceased by her parents Roy and Mary (Dunning) Schaffner. Linda is also preceded in death by her
beloved husband Tom, who passed 13 years to the day of her own passing; she is once again and finally
back in his loving arms.
Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 11:30 AM Thursday, December 13, at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton
Church in Mechanicsburg with visitation beginning at 10:00 AM. A private burial service at Arlington
National Cemetery will follow at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts in Linda’s memory can be made either to the Breast Cancer Research
Foundation, 28 West 44th Street, Suite 609, New York, NY 10036; The Fisher House Foundation to benefit
military families, 12300 Twinbrook Parkway #410 Rockville, MD 20852 or to St. Mary’s Church, 111
Wellsville St., Bolivar NY 14715.
