William D. Pounds

William D. Pounds 88 of 159 Cartwright Road and a former Little Genesee N.Y. resident passed away on
Saturday May 5, 2018 in Butler Pa. following a brief illness. He was born on November 22, 1929 in
Norwood Mass. He was the son of Jesse and Mary Alzaida Pounds. Bill married the former Claire C.
McLeavey on January 1, 1956 in Revere Mass. Mrs. Pounds preceded him in death on June 10, 1987. On
July 1, 1994 he married Wendy Benson, Mrs. Pounds survives.
Mr. Pounds was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force serving during the Korean War. He was employed at the
Bolivar Magneto Co. Bolivar from 1954-1989. He later was employed in the Maintenance Dept. of Butler
Community College for over five years retiring in 1994. Bill was a member of Lyndora PA American Legion
Post 778 and a member of Macedonia Lodge 258 F&AM Bolivar, NY. Surviving in addition to his wife are
two children; Tim (Sharon) Pounds Little Genesee NY and Dawn (David) Brooks Springville NY. Also
surviving is one granddaughter Claire C. Pounds Eldred, PA. He was preceded in death by a son Kevin W.
Pounds, a grandson Caleb W. Pounds and three brothers, Phillip, Jack and Richard Pounds.
Friends may call at the Schaffner Funeral Home Inc. Bolivar on Wednesday from 5-6 P.M. A Masonic
Funeral Service will follow visitation followed by full military honors. Burial will be in Wells Cemetery Little
Genesee, NY.
