Edwin I. Mitchell 91 of 7899 Refinery Road passed away peacefully at home on Sunday September 19,
2021. Born August 28, 1930 in Honeoye PA, he was the son of Arlie and Zelma Olmstead Mitchell. Edwin
married Celia Hurd on July 3, 1949 in Little Genesee; Mrs. Mitchell preceded him in death on November
10, 2007.
Mr. Mitchell was employed by Bradley Producers Gas Company Wellsville, later was a foreman for
National Fuel Gas Company for thirty years retiring in 1985. Edwin was a member of the Richburg First
Day Baptist Church, a fifty-five year member of the Bolivar Fire Department, Allegany County Fireman’s
Association, Allegany County Fire Police Association, Southwestern New York Fireman’s Association, New
York State Fireman’s Association, Early Bird Campers Club and 4Cs Senior Citizens Club Bolivar.
Surviving are two daughters, Diane (Daniel) Little Bolivar and Dawn M. DeBock Bolivar; one son Douglas
(Jacqueline) Mitchell Pittsford NY and seven grandchildren, Michael, Martin and Misty DeBock, Nickolas
and Nathaniel Little, Ryan Mitchell and Rachael Mitchell-Fagenson. Also surviving are seventeen
great-grandchildren and a special friend and companion Frank DeBock Eldred PA. In addition to his wife Ed was
preceded in death by his parents Arlie and Zelma Mitchell and one brother Raymond Mitchell. For several years
he had a special companion Hattie Roskey who preceded him in death.
Friends may call at the Bolivar Fire Department, 460 Main Street on Sunday September 26, 2021 from
11A.M.-1 P.M. Graveside services will follow visitation in Bowler Memorial Cemetery Little Genesee.
