Lawrence W. “Larry” Rossman: “The Bicycle Man”
Lawrence W. “Larry” Rossman, 95, of 98 Friendship Street, Bolivar, passed away Wednesday,
March 17, 2021 at Jones Memorial Hospital after a short illness.
Born on July 4, 1925, in Scio, he was a son of Walter W. and Edith M. Eymer Rossman. On June 5,
1948 in Little Genesee, he married the former Betty Lounsberry who preceded him in death on
October 3, 2016.
He was a graduate of Belmont High School. Larry served in the United States Navy Veteran from
1943-46 aboard a Minesweeper in the Pacific. Mr. Rossman had been employed by the Village of
Bolivar Department of Public works for 31 years retiring in 1981. He also owned and operated
Larry’s Bike Shop in Bolivar for over 30 years. Larry was a member of the Bolivar United
Methodist Church, was a member and past commander of the Kenyon Andrus Post 772 American
Legion of Bolivar , and was a life member of the National Rifle Association.
Surviving are:
A son Randall (Vicky) Rossman Olean
A Daughter Carol (Randy) Belser Bradford
Seven grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren
Several nieces and nephews
In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by a son Steven Rossman in 1973, and two
brothers Everett Rossman and Dick Rossman.
Friends may call at the Schaffner Funeral Home Inc., 554 South Main Street, Bolivar, on Monday,
March 22, 2021 from 4-7 P.M. where funeral services will be held on Tuesday, March 23, 2021 at
11:00 A.M. The Rev. Alva Cornell will officiate.
Burial will be in Maple Lawn Cemetery, Bolivar, New York.
In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Bolivar Fire Department, 460 Main Street, Bolivar
14715 or to the Bolivar United Methodist Church, 80 Friendship St., Bolivar, NY 14715, or to a
charity of the donor’s choice.
