Doris M. ”Cowles” Mitchell 93 a former resident of 125 Griffin Street passed away on Wednesday April 20, 2022 in the
Conesus Lake Nursing Home Livonia, NY following a lengthy illness. Born on October 28, 1928 in Bolivar she was the
daughter of Charles and Leona Eaton Cowles. Doris married Claude L. Mitchell on March 2, 1946 in Alma; Mr. Mitchell
preceded her in death on May 8, 1998.
Doris received her GED from the Richburg Central School. She was employed by the Richburg Central School as the
cafeteria manager from 1967-1995. Doris enjoyed playing bingo and crocheting.
Surviving are four children, Claude (Ethel) Mitchell Kernersville NC, Barbara A. Interlicchia West Bloomfield NY,
Marvin J. (Mary Jane) Mitchell Greensboro NC and Mary K. (Lee) Winchell Bolivar; eight grandchildren; fourteen
great-grandchildren and one sister Jean Sexton San Jose CA.
She was preceded in death by a daughter Gloria Harmes in 1975, one brother George Cowles and one sister Lois Lambert.
Graveside services will be held on Monday April 25, 2022 in the Richburg Cemetery at 11 A.M. Pastor Larry Allen of
the Richburg First Day Baptist Church will officiate.
Memorials to the Richburg Fire Department, P.O. Box 74, Richburg NY 14774 would be appreciated by the family.
