William R. Hendrickson
1934-2022

William R. Hendrickson age 88 passed away peacefully on September 16, 2022 at Hospice of Central Florida surrounded by his family. Born on January 31, 1934 in Jamestown, he was the son of Harry and Josephine McDivitt Hendrickson. He graduated from the Jamestown High School and entered the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict where he played the role of cartographer. Mr. Hendrickson received the Korean Service Medal, United Nations Service Medal, and the National Defense Service Medal. After being honorably discharged in 1955, he graduated from Alfred State University with honors, where he was also a cheerleader.

He started his career with General Electric and met his loving wife Sadie Marie and they were wed on September 1, 1956 in Union City, PA.

Brimming with pride he had five children and Bill thoroughly enjoyed teaching them how to hunt, fish, play sports and live life by the golden rule. He had a blast coaching Little League sports and literally had an impact on hundreds of young kids. He was an avid baseball fan especially the New York Yankees, Mickey Mantle and Joe DiMaggio, not to mention his musical favorites Frank Sinatra and Barbara Streisand.

As a consummate sales professional, he had a forty-five year career in the electrical sales and distribution industry. Unlike many sales oriented professionals he also had exceptional leadership, organizational and coaching skills. He had the ability to follow up and follow through his entire life on the smallest detail. Beside his unwavering work ethic these are reasons he was always #1 in production in any organization that was lucky enough to have him.

In addition to his parents Mr. Hendrickson was preceded in death by his loving wife Sadie Marie Hendrickson and his son Kevin Alexander Hendrickson.

Surviving are three sons, William R. Hendrickson Jr. Highland Lakes NJ, Gregory L. Hendrickson Pompton Lakes NJ and Eric D. Hendrickson Orlando FL; one daughter Julie Ann Hendrickson Phoenixville PA; one brother, Malcom (Sue) Hendrickson NH; one sister, Jacqueline (Ted) Valone Orange Park FL; three grandchildren, Johnny Pufko, Brenna Pufko and Joseph Pufko; three great-grandchildren, Joseph Pufko Jr., Sadie Marie Pufko and Collette Pufko.

Friends may call at the Schaffner Funeral Home Inc. 554 South Main St. Bolivar, NY on Saturday October 1, 2022 from 12noon-2PM. Graveside services will follow visitation in Maple Lawn Cemetery Bolivar NY. Rev. Elva Cornell will officiate.

Following the funeral services there will be a get together amongst family and friends at the Century Manor Restaurant Olean, NY. In lieu of flowers memorials to Wounded Warriors.org would be appreciated by the family.
