Ivan “Fred” Wilson III of 1027 Horse Run Rd. passed away on Friday, May 19, 2023, in the Pittsburgh Veterans
Administration Hospital following a lengthy illness.
Fred was born on December 12, 1947, in Olean, New York. He was the son of Ivan F. Wilson II and Bernice Linnecke Wilson.
Fred married Terry Ferguson on March 12, 1977, in the Allentown United Methodist Church. Mrs. Wilson survives.
Fred was a graduate of the Cuba Central School class of 1968. He was a Veteran of the United States Marine Corps from 1969-1972 and served in the
Vietnam War and served in Thailand. Fred received the Rifle Expert Badge; National Defense Service Medal; Vietnam Service Medal w/2*; Meritorious Mast;
Good Conduct Medal; Vietnam Campaign Medal w/ device; Vietnam Meritorious Unit Commendation Civil Actions Color 1st Class/Palm and Frame. Following
his Honorable discharge, Fred began his forty-eight-year career at Clark Brothers Co., which later became Dresser Rand and finally Siemens Energy
Olean, retiring in 2020. Fred was a loving husband and father and was always looking for ways to help his family and friends. He was also an avid
motorcycle rider and especially enjoyed riding with his son and close friends. Fred could often be found working in his garage and in the yard on
his tractors. Fred was a member of the Bolivar United Methodist Church, Kenyon Andrus Post 772 American Legion Bolivar, Cuba VFW Post 2721, Macedonia
Lodge 258 F&AM Bolivar, Valley of Jamestown Scottish Rite, and United Steelworkers Union Local Olean.
Surviving in addition to his wife, are his son, Ivan Fred (Jennifer) Wilson IV, Fort Mill, SC; two grandchildren, Ivan Fred Wilson V and Eva Marie Wilson,
also of Fort Mill, SC; two sisters, Debbie (Russ) Gross of Cuba and Patti Wilson of Wethersfield, CT, and nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death
by his parents, his sister and brother-in-law, Kay and Richard Rifenburg, and his mother-in-law, Nina Ferguson.
Friends may call at the Schaffner Funeral Home Inc. Bolivar on Tuesday May 30, 2023 from 4-7 P.M. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday May 31,
2023 at 11 A.M. in the Bolivar United Methodist Church. Pastors Dawn Quesenberry and Elva Cornell officiating. Burial with full Military Honors will
be in Maple Lawn Cemetery Bolivar.
